"Modern Chinese" has developed for a century up to now. In the institutionalized history of this common language of the Chinese nation, "modern literature" has played a tremendous role, but the contributions of different writers and their works vary greatly. In view of this, based on Bourdieu's sociolinguistics and with the new speech act theory as the logical starting point, this book uses the frame analysis method to conduct an exhaustive study on the examples of modern literary works in representative Chinese linguistic works of the early 20th century. It examines which literary styles in 20th-century linguistic works have more "reality in language life" and thus are more favored by linguists; which works have more "normativity in language form" and thus directly mark the process of the institutionalization of modern Chinese; and which writers have more "significance in language art" and thus become "rhetorical models" for the public. In this way, it provides another narrative of the "history of modern Chinese literature" in the 20th century.
