A native of Jiangsu Province, he is an associate professor and a master's supervisor. He studied at the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, Peking University in 1995, where he successively obtained a bachelor's degree and a master's degree. In 2009, he graduated from the Department of Chinese, Translation and Linguistics, City University of Hong Kong with a doctoral degree in phonetics. He is mainly engaged in the teaching and research of modern Chinese, experimental phonetics, and Chinese dialectology. He has published many papers in linguistic journals such as Zhongguo Yuwen (Studies of the Chinese Language) and Fangyan (Dialect), and has presided over a number of scientific research projects at or above the provincial and ministerial level.
