Professor at East China Normal University, Standing Director of the Shanghai Chinese Language Society, and Editorial Board Member of International Chinese Language Education (Chinese & English). His main research fields are modern Chinese grammar and international Chinese language education.

 

Educational experience:

· Graduated with a doctoral degree in 2004 from the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, East China Normal University, majoring in Chinese Philology;

· Obtained a master's degree in 2001 from the School of Journalism and Communication, Shandong University, majoring in Chinese Philology;

· Earned a bachelor's degree in 1998 from Qingdao University, majoring in Chinese Language and Literature.

 

Visiting experience:

· Conducted a six-month visiting study at the Institute of Linguistics, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences from 2019 to 2020;

· Undertaken a one-year visiting program at the School of East Asian Studies, University of Leeds, UK from 2013 to 2014.

 

Work experience:

Worked at the School of International Cultural Exchange, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics from 2004 to 2024, and once served as the Director of the Business Chinese Department;

· Joined the International College of Chinese Language and Culture, East China Normal University in November 2024.

 

Major research achievements:

· Presided over and completed 2 National Social Science Fund projects, 1 Humanities and Social Sciences Project of the Ministry of Education, and 1 Project of the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education;

· Published academic monographs including A Study on Modern Chinese Causative Categories, Research on Discourse Knowledge Construction and Teaching of Chinese as a Foreign Language Writing, and A Cognitive Semantic Study of Chinese Verb-Resultative Constructions, with the first two being published with the support of the Shanghai Philosophy and Social Sciences Academic Works Publishing Fund;

· Published more than 90 academic papers in domestic and foreign academic journals;

· Presided over the construction of key courses such as "Methodology of Chinese Studies" (for academic postgraduates), "Research Methods and Thesis Writing" (for Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages), "Business Chinese Writing" (for international undergraduate students), and "Advanced Business Chinese" (for international undergraduate students);

· Served as the chief editor of Case Studies on Teaching Practice for Postgraduates in International Chinese Language Education;

· Edited 12 business Chinese textbooks including Excellent Chinese: Succeeding in Business (Volumes 1-5), Excellent Chinese: Business Writing (Volumes 1 & 2), and Comprehensive Business Chinese Case Tutorial, as well as 1 postgraduate textbook Introduction to Research Methods in Chinese Studies.
