Ye Jun
Course Description:
Rather than simply imparting language knowledge or practicing language skills, language instruction is fundamentally about developing learners' communicative competence. The organization of communicative activities is the key to form a communicative classroom and carry out the principle of learner-centered, learning-in-communication and learning-in-practice.
Based on common types of language classroom activities, this course introduces seven types of communicative classroom activities, namely scripted performances, role plays, communicative games, questions and answers, discussions, debates, and personal presentations and speeches. An analysis is conducted regarding their respective characteristics, operation methods, target objects, and advantages & disadvantages. And in light of the goals of language learning, discussions are initiated about the effectiveness of classroom activities.
