Hua received her B.A. from the Department of Chinese Language & Literature of Hangzhou Normal University, her M.A. in Modern and Contemporary Literature from the Department of Chinese Language & Literature of ECNU, and her Ph.D. in Literary Folklore from the Department of TCFL of ECNU in June 2007.
She offers Chinese courses and specialized courses to international language students, Chinese and foreign undergraduates and postgraduates, and sets up courses including Shanghai City Culture, Chinese Business Culture, Advanced Business Chinese Reading and International Chinese Culture Teaching for undergraduate international students.
She is engaged in Chinese language international education and overseas Chinese education. She has hosted multiple research projects, participated in compiling three Chinese language textbooks, published one monograph, and delivered dozens of papers. She is a former consultant of Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Shanghai Municipal Government, a member of the Overseas Chinese Education Expert Group, as well as a government-sponsored teacher and volunteer interviewer of Confucius Institutes.
