Jin is a professor and doctoral supervisor in the School of International Chinese Studies and the Department of Chinese Language & Literature at ECNU.

She works on 18th-century English and American literature, comparative literature and literary theory.

She published monographs including Pluralist Universalism (Ohio State University Press, 2012) and The Interpreted Beauty (2018), and has delivered multiple academic papers in domestic and foreign journals. She is on the editorial board of International Journal of Cultural Studies (SSCI, AHCI), and was named to the 2020 list of the most influential scholars in Chinese philosophy and social sciences.

She has delivered translations including Harold Bloom's The Anatomy of Influence: Literature as a Way of Life (2016), Michael Ondaatje's poetry collection The Cinnamon Peeler (2018), Jorie Graham's collection of poems, Many Futures (2020), etc.

She also provides commentary, essays and poetry on we-media under the pseudonym Mo Shuitian.
